RAISING CONCERNS
The department has created a flyer for families which addresses how they can raise concerns about early childhood education and care services. The flyer encourages families to raise concerns directly with the director, manager or staff members of the service in the first instance, if there is no risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of children. It then informs families to contact the department if the service cannot resolve the issue, or if there is a risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of children. This promotes the proper management of incidents in Quality Area 2.2 – Safety, ensuring each child is protected. The flyer also outlines the responsibility of services and the NSW Department of Education as the regulator when receiving and responding to complaints.
