What a great month we have had so far.
We have been very busy starting to practice our songs for our Christmas concert. We are so excited.
It is really coming to the end of the year when so many of the children are venturing off to Big School. We have lots of the children who have already started school readiness programs at their dedicated school and some other schools will be in November. These programs are great and I m sure both you and your child will enjoy them.
We are continuing to practice our pre numeracy skills with measurement and weight.
Our pre literacy skills are great with the puppet area as well as many group times with very interesting stories. All of the children are getting so great with re telling the story. Hope you are trying this very complex skill at home as well.
A huge thank you to Alex’s Dad Olli for coming in and talking to the children about being a doctor. Alex brought this interest into the room and all of the other children have been very interested in at as well. We have also had other hospital resources donated by other parents in the field. A huge thank you for that.
Halloween 🎃 is soon but I will send you another email about that.
We are lucky to be starting barefoot yoga again next week for us all to enjoy.
Well cheers for now
Miss Marg Miss Julie, Miss Emily and Miss Sam.
Just a short note from the Emu room.
What a great busy week we have had again. This week was our last week for both music and Spanish. All of the children have enjoyed both of these activities.
Next week starts a new term so we will be continuing with yoga and sport. Not sure of the times yet but will let you know when it has been confirmed.
We have been using a lot of pre numeracy skills this week with the scales as well as tape measures.
The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) (DEEWR, 2009) defines numeracy as:
… the capacity, confidence and disposition to use mathematics in daily life.
Spatial sense, structure and pattern, number, measurement, connections and exploring the world mathematically are the powerful mathematical ideas children need to become numerate.
Your child learns about numeracy as we:
* count things, look for shapes
* use words about weights and measures
* talk about the volume a bucket will hold
* estimate distances … It’s a long way to the Mulberry tree, but the sandpit is much closer
* divide up and share
We will continue to practice these skills

Another great few weeks we have had in the Emu room.
We are very very lucky to have Freddie as our music teacher on a Monday. She truly is super amazing. The different program she brings every week is so energetic she inspires me and the children.
Wednesday is still our Spanish day with Miss Victoria. We are learning to count from 1-10. She is great with the children. Music is also a great part of the program.
Friday’s is sport. Every week they concentrate on a different sport.
We are lucky to have these people help us with these extra activities.
In previous communication I have said if your child comes on another day and you are interested in these classes I will do my best to fit them in. Please call me if you have any questions re classes.
We have also changed our rest time. Previously we had quite time resting on large pillows with a friend but now we are having activities time. I have found a few different challenging ideas working on all of our fine motor skills. They are proving very popular with all of the children. If your child is tired and needs a little rest we still have quiet time in the back room. We still have a few children that just like to chill out with a book and a friend which is great as well.
We are seriously busy everyday and don’t have enough time to do all of the activities that I plan for the week. Please let me know if there is any further help I can be with any of your concerns.
Thanks Miss Marg
What a busy time we have had in the Emu room.
We have been using our writing books to practice our name writing.
We have started our new interest area of dinosaurs.
We have been talking and watching the World Cup soccer.
We have been very busy playing with play dough, painting, making slime and other fun things.
From next week we are going to have Miss Julie Monday , Tuesday , Wednesday and Miss Emily Thursday , Friday.
They are swapping days due to Miss Emily’s University commitments. We also have Miss Charlene who is going to be in our room on a Thursday and Friday.
If you have any questions please always feel free to call in and have a chat.
What a very busy month we have had in the Emu room.
We have had two projects going for the month. It’s a bugs 🐞 life and Pirates. We have been following the children’s interests with these subjects. Come in and have a look at our two project walls.
We have also had Henny Penny Hatching 🐣 how amazing was that. All of the children enjoyed watching from eggs to chicks. We talked about the life cycle of a chicken as well as a lot of conversations re our eggs we buy from the supermarket.
Easter has also been a big interest with lots of craft. We have had many conversations about what we will be doing for Easter as a family. The Easter bunny 🐰 has also been a very keen topic. This afternoon is our Easter Hat Parade. We have worked really hard so we hope everyone will enjoy.
Our playground looks amazing. We have two new hutches for our pet rabbit Caramel and our two pet guinea pigs. Have a look them.
Have a very Happy Easter
Thanks, Miss Marg, Miss Julie and Miss Emily.

We made the Australian and Aboriginal flags which are displayed on our wall, we read Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and even had a thong throwing competition!
Our babies area has been very popular as well as our block area. The drawing table has been very busy with the children focusing on writing their names This week we said goodbye to our beautiful friends Abby, Fletcher and Spencer, we wish them well starting at their new schools.
