Dear Families,

Absences for the new financial year
In the 2021/2022 financial year, families were given an extra 10 allowable absences bringing the total number to 52. For the 2022/2023 financial year, this will revert back to 42 allowable absences.

Waiving Gap Fees
As of 1st July, 2022 we are no longer able to waive the Gap fee for absences due to COVID. Previously, we were able to waive the gap fee for four reasons:
1. The child or a member of their immediate household must isolate due to COVID 19.
2. The child is at a higher risk of severe disease from COVID 19 (this began from 27/1/22)
3. The service, or a room at the service is closed due to COVID 19.
4. The state or territory has restricted access to childcare in a region due to COVID 19.
As of 1st July, this no longer applies, and we cannot waive the gap fee for any reason.

Absences at the start or end of an enrolment
In the 2021/2022 financial year, CCS would be paid for up to seven absence days before the child attended their first day of care and after the child’s last physical day of attendance due to COVID related reasons without the need for a doctors certificate/evidence.
As of 1st July, CCS will only be paid for up to seven days before the child attended their first day of care and after the child’s last physical day of attendance for the below approved reasons only:
any of the additional absence reasons(click the link to see these reasons)
The child’s child care service has changed ownership
The child’s usual child care service is closed and the child attends a different service under the same child care provider
The child’s enrolment ceased incorrectly
The family have experienced a family tragedy. We ask families to please provide evidence for any of the above reasons.

The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme, “Be Brave. Make Change.” is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and government—to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

Last year Reconciliation Australia encouraged all Australians to take action; not just in National Reconciliation Week but every week of the year.

We saw unprecedented response to our suggested actions for everyday and for braver action.

This year we are asking everyone to make change beginning with brave actions in their daily lives – where they live, work, play and socialise.

National Reconciliation Week—27 May to 3 June—is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Time limits for confirming income for Child Care Subsidy

When you get Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you must confirm your family’s income after the end of each financial year. There are time limits for how long you have to do this.

If you got CCS or Assisted Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) for 2019-20 and didn’t confirm your family’s income by 30 June 2021, your payments will have stopped. From 12 July 2021, they will have reduced to 0%. However, we will have continued to pay your Child Wellbeing payments.

If you got CCS for 2020-21 you have until 30 June 2022 to confirm your family’s income. If you don’t confirm your income, your CCS will stop. It will reduce to 0% from 11 July 2022. This will also apply if you get ACCS. However, Child Wellbeing payments will continue.

If your CCS and ACCS stop, you’ll have to pay full fees for any child care you use.
If they stop, we can start them again once you’ve confirmed your income, provided you’re still eligible. Centrelink will restart them from the first day of your next CCS fortnight.
A CCS fortnight is a 2-week period that starts every second Monday. For example, the first CCS fortnight for the 2021-22 year started on Monday 12 July 2021.
If there’s a gap between your CCS and ACCS stopping and starting again, we won’t back pay you for that period.

If your CCS has cancelled and you want to claim CCS again, you’ll need to have done both of the following:
confirmed your family’s income for any financial years that you got CCS and that you haven’t done this for
paid back any money you owe or set up a payment arrangement.
