This month we’ve been loving water play with all our new water play activities, this has been a very popular activity with the warm weather. We also have celebrated multicultural week with this we tried to include children within our rooms cultures. Each day we spoke about different cultures or countries and followed on with this by an experience that represented that culture.
Within the next couple of weeks our outdoor area will be getting new and exciting changes, the Snugglepot’s can’t wait for all these new things. Next month is national recycling week 12th-16th November, please if you have any recycled goods at home you don’t need we would love for you to donate them.
Next month we will be also starting Christmas craft at the end of the month with Christmas fast approaching.
The Snugglepot’s have been very busy this month with our new early start program this program is to help the children’s learning and development. We have a lady from “hey dee ho” Miss Freddie come do a music class with the children this helps the children get involved in music groups and be apart of a group. We also have a yoga class every Thursday with Kathryn, The children learn movements and learnt new ones. The session encourages listening and concentration skills among the children, as well as moving within their own space. After the warm up the Snugglepot’s are read a story. The story was about dinosaurs. The children were taught how to move their bodies in ways that represent different dinosaurs, a tree and a volcano.
A popular activity has been dancing in the Snugglepot’s, each day the children pick different songs that they would like to dance and move around to. Our most popular ones are “baby shark” and “stop”.
During the next month we will be implementing more resources that incorporate more sustainability loose parts play and nature exploration within the Snugglepot’s room as they have been interested in nature and wanting to play in the gardens.
We have had a wonderful month in the Snugglepot’s room with lots of new exciting renovations and new resources added to our room.
New Astro turf has been laid in our yard which looks amazing , soccer nets for the children to kick goals, a large wooden ant statue for the children to climb and balance on , and a mud kitchen has been added to the yard also. The teachers have been adding real cooking equipment and herbs to the mud kitchen to encourage dramatic play. The children have throughly enjoyed exploring the mud kitchen together.
This month, many children in the Snugglepot’s room have been displaying a strong interest in Firetrucks and firefighting. The educators took this interest on board and set up a Fire Station indoors.
The teachers turned the wooden car into a fire truck and cut up hoses for the children pretend to fight fires. We also incorporated learning about Firefighting into group time and play by reading stories and singing songs on this topic.
Over the month of June we encountered a range of crazy weather such a thunder storms and torrential rain. The children often stood at the window watching the rain and making comments, therefore, this month we also focused on having discussions about different types of weather and engaging in weather related craft and games.
Our new winter menu is now displayed next to the door for all parents to see what yummy, healthy meals the children have been enjoying throughout the day.
If you have any questions regarding the room or the programme please feel free to ask the Snugglepot educators.
many thanks – Snugglepot educators 😊
March has been a busy month of learning & growing for the Snugglepot children…
We have been learning about the lifecycle of chickens thanks to Henny Penny Hatching arriving at the centre…the children visited the chicks daily watching as they grew over the two weeks. The children also developed knowledge about how to be respectful towards the chickens & how to gently handle & pat the chicks.
Colour recognition has also been another area we have focused on with the children experimenting with recognising & mixing colours in our creative experiences.
We have also been exploring the beach…the beach is such a big part of the children’s lives. We had amazing family input about the children at the beach which added to a beach dramatic play area where the children shared their experiences at the beach.
Our upcoming interests include building & construction, continuing to care for nature & the beach.
January 22 – January 26, 2018
We had a very fun week in the SnugglePots room this week. The children are enjoying getting to know their new environment, routine and friends.
This week we celebrated Australia Day within our room. The children were shown some pictures of the Australian flag and we had many discussions about different Australian animals. We also discussed what foods we like to eat in Australia and things we liked to do, such a going to the beach. Many children talked about how much they love going to the beach with their families. The children’s voices have been documented and implemented into our programme to continue on with learning about the beach in our room over the next few weeks.
Our room is getting painted at the moment. It’s looking beautiful and fresh. We will start to add things to our walls such as the programme, children’s art and our family and community walls. We have also been adding natural materials to our room, such as plants, wooden frames, leaves, sticks , stones for the children to explore with.
At group times, the children have been exploring simple shapes, colours and numbers through singing songs and listening to stories.
Due to the weather being so warm, please don’t forget to apply sunscreen on your child on arrival. Many thanks!
Love Miss Shelley, Miss Ashlea, Miss Micah, Miss Kiera, Miss Georgia, Miss Kirsten, Miss Jordan and Miss Kesten

What a great first week we had in the Snugglepot room. We have loved meeting our new friends and seeing our friends from last year refreshed after a Christmas break. Many of our bush babies children have been excited about their new room & have been busy exploring our indoor & outdoor environment!
As you may have noticed we have had painters in over the break & the weekend giving the room a freshen up! All painting will be completed in the Snugglepot room this weekend.
We have a “welcome to the Snugglepot letter” by our sign in kiosk please take one as it gives you an overview of the room and also our staff names & days!
We look forward to a busy year growing & learning with your children!
